PhD is one of the topmost degrees in the education ladder and cannot be a scam. It is not compulsory to have a PhD. If one has the means to go for it, they do. Some people are okay with their level in the educational ladder and will not waste time and resources to go for a PhD, but others do want to have it. It comes with it’s own privileges. It does not necessarily mean someone with a PhD will take more salary than all those with Bachelor’s or Master’s degrees. Especially in the teaching field, PhD is one of the requirements to becoming a lecture in a university in Ghana.
