Alphabetical ordering is very bizzare and unusual in Computer Science. I would suspect this is really just a way for your professor to put his name as first author. Alphabetical ordering is very bizzare and unusual in Computer Science. I would suspect this is really just a way for your professor to put his name as first author. Seeing your professor as your advisor or as a professor makes a big difference. it is possible that the professor doesn’t feel that your relationship is strong enough for him to recognize your contributions, which you could argue is unethical, but is also understandable.
